About the Programme

Why BookMandee Invites Guest Contributors

BookMandee is not just a marketplace for books — it is a platform being built around the idea that books deserve context. Readers come here not only to buy and sell, but to discover what to read next, to understand a genre's depth, to explore an author's body of work, and to navigate a world of literature that is vast and often underwritten-about in thoughtful English. Guest contributors are central to that mission.

The platform currently covers over 180 book and reading categories — from Hindi literary fiction and children's books to academic reading, business literature, genre deep-dives, and regional Indian publishing. No single editorial team can write meaningfully about all of it. That is where contributors come in.

BookMandee accepts guest posts from book lovers, writers, educators, librarians, researchers, bloggers, and anyone who brings genuine knowledge and perspective to the topics this platform cares about. The standard is editorial quality — not credentials. A reader who has spent a decade with a particular genre knows things a generalist writer cannot.

This is a two-stage, pitch-first programme. Send the topic and why you are the right person to write about it. If the team agrees, they will invite the full article. This keeps the quality high, the process efficient, and the editorial calendar genuinely curated.

Why does this matter for contributors? A platform with focused topical depth means the audience already cares about what is being written. Pieces published here reach readers who are actively engaged with books — not general web traffic that arrives by accident.
Benefits of Contributing

What Writing for BookMandee Does for You

🔗

A Do-Follow Backlink in Your Bio

Every published piece includes an author bio at the end with one do-follow link to a site or social profile of your choosing. This is a genuine SEO asset — not a nofollow placeholder.

📣

Promotion on BookMandee's Channels

Accepted articles are promoted on BookMandee's social media channels. The piece reaches readers beyond those who find it through search — including the platform's existing community of active book buyers and sellers.

✍️

A Published Byline on a Niche Platform

BookMandee is specifically about books and reading — not general lifestyle, not broad media. A byline here carries topical weight. It signals to future editors, clients, and readers that the work is focused and credible.

📈

Long-Term Search Visibility

BookMandee is investing in long-term SEO and content depth. Articles published here are intended to remain live, rank over time, and accumulate search traffic — meaning a piece written today can continue bringing readers and backlink value for years.

🌐

Reach an Audience That Actually Reads

BookMandee's audience is not passive. They are buying books, selling books, exploring author pages, and reading about publishing. A piece on a topic they care about lands differently here than it would on a general content platform.

🏷️

Genuine Credit as a Contributing Author

Contributions are published under a real byline — name, bio, and link. This is a legitimate publishing credit that can be cited in a portfolio, shared professionally, and referenced in future pitches to other publications.

Regional & Indian Literature Voices

Writers who can cover regional Indian publishing, vernacular literature, translated works, or the literary cultures of specific Indian communities.

💡
BookMandee covers 180+ book and reading categories — the pillars above are representative, not exhaustive. If a topic is genuinely about books, reading, literature, learning, or closely connected to those themes, it is worth pitching. Original angles and underexplored subjects are actively encouraged. The editorial team is more likely to respond to a pitch that covers something not yet written about on the platform than to a repeat of a topic already well-covered.
Submission Guidelines

Content Standards — What Every Submission Must Meet

These standards exist to protect the quality of the platform and the value of a byline here. Every submission — whether invited or ultimately published — will be evaluated against these criteria.

📏

Word Count: 1,500 – 3,000 Words

Submissions shorter than 1,500 words will not meet the depth required to handle a topic with genuine editorial substance. Submissions over 3,000 words may be returned for editing. The range is a guide to intent — not a count to hit for its own sake.

📰

Original, Unpublished Content Only

Submissions must not be live anywhere else — including the contributor's own blog, LinkedIn, Medium, or any other publication. Content published elsewhere is ineligible regardless of how it is adapted. This is a non-negotiable condition of submission.

🤖

No AI-Generated Content

Submissions generated by AI tools — including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar — are not accepted. If AI tools were used in any part of the writing process (research, drafting, editing), this must be declared in the pitch email. Content that has been substantially rewritten and fact-checked by a human may be considered, at editorial discretion.

📐

Third-Person or Neutral Perspective

First-person writing ("I read this book and felt...") is not accepted. Submissions should take an editorial, analytical, or informational tone. Opinion is welcome when grounded in argument and evidence — not personal anecdote. This applies to the full article, not just specific sections.

📊

Data-Backed Writing Is Actively Welcomed

Articles backed by research, surveys, market data, or published studies are strongly encouraged. All data cited must come from verifiable, credible sources — and those sources must be referenced within the piece, whether as inline citations, linked text, or a reference list at the end.

📌

Relevant to Books, Reading, or Learning

All content must fall substantively within BookMandee's subject area — books, reading, literature, learning, Indian publishing, or closely connected themes. Tangential pieces that use books as a hook for an unrelated subject will not be accepted.

🚫

No Promotional Content in the Body

The article body must not promote a product, service, brand, or commercial offering. Links to affiliate products, sponsored items, or the contributor's own services are not permitted within the piece. One link is allowed in the author bio. Promotional intent must be declared upfront — see the Sponsored Posts section below.

Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are checked for plagiarism before editorial review. Passages found to be copied, closely paraphrased without attribution, or submitted as original when they are not will result in immediate rejection. Discovery of plagiarism after publication may result in the article being taken down without notice.

A note on style: BookMandee content is informative, readable, and treats its audience as intelligent adults who care about books. The writing should feel like a well-researched piece from a knowledgeable writer — not a listicle, not a thinly-sourced overview, and not a press release dressed as editorial content. The best published pieces on BookMandee are the ones that a reader would genuinely bookmark.
Important Disqualifiers

BookMandee Is Not the Right Fit If...

Reading this section saves time — both for contributors and for the editorial team. If any of the following apply, the pitch or submission will not proceed further.

  • The article has already been published — in full or in substantially similar form — on another website, blog, or platform
  • The intent is to build backlinks for an unrelated business, service, or product through a disguised editorial piece
  • The content was generated by an AI tool and is being submitted as original writing without disclosure
  • The piece is written in first-person or structured as a personal reading diary or anecdote-led reflection
  • The topic has no substantive connection to books, reading, literature, learning, or publishing
  • The article contains multiple commercial links within the body text, or promotes a product, service, or the contributor's business
  • The submission is sent as a full article without a prior pitch — unsolicited complete drafts are not reviewed
  • The piece is under 1,500 words or does not meet the depth required for meaningful editorial treatment of a topic
  • The pitch declares promotional intent but the contributor is not willing to pay the applicable sponsored post fee
Why publish this list? Transparency about what is not accepted is a sign of editorial seriousness. A platform with clear disqualifiers signals to genuine contributors that their work will be reviewed on its merits — not buried alongside low-quality link-building submissions. BookMandee does not want to waste a contributor's time any more than they want to waste the editorial team's.

Still unsure?

Send a short pitch email explaining the topic and angle. The editorial team will respond — and will let the contributor know if the subject is outside scope before any effort is wasted on a full draft.

Submission Process

How to Submit — A Two-Stage Process

BookMandee follows a pitch-first approach. Full articles are not reviewed unless they have been invited. This is a deliberate editorial choice — it keeps the process efficient for everyone and ensures that contributors are not investing significant time in pieces that do not fit the platform's current needs.

1

Send a Pitch Email

Email official.bookmandee@gmail.com with the proposed article topic, a one-paragraph summary of the angle and argument, and a brief explanation of what makes the contributor the right person to write it (background, relevant reading, expertise, or simply why they care about this topic enough to write about it in depth).

If the piece has promotional intent — for example, if it features the contributor's own product, service, or business — this must be stated clearly in the pitch email. Promotional submissions are treated as sponsored posts and are subject to a fee.

Stage 1 — Pitch
2

Wait for Editorial Response

The BookMandee editorial team reviews all pitch emails and responds within 7–10 working days. If the topic is a good fit, the team will write back with confirmation and any specific editorial guidance on angle, depth, or length. If the topic is not right for the platform at this time, the team will say so — and may suggest an alternative angle if one exists.

Response within 7–10 days
3

Submit the Full Article

Once invited, send the complete article as a Google Doc or Microsoft Word file — not as a pasted email body. Along with the article, include a two-to-three sentence author bio in the third person and the URL of the one link to be included in the bio. No author photo is required. No in-body commercial links should be included.

Stage 2 — Full Submission
4

Editorial Review & Publication

Submitted articles go through BookMandee's editorial process — reviewed for accuracy, clarity, structure, and fit. If significant structural changes are needed, the team will communicate these before publishing. Minor edits for grammar, formatting, and style are made without requiring contributor sign-off. Contributors are notified once the piece goes live.

Notification on publication
Stage 1 — Send Your Pitch To

Start Here

Send the topic, angle, and why you are the right person to write it. Keep the pitch concise — two to three paragraphs is sufficient.

📬 official.bookmandee@gmail.com

Do not send full articles to this address without an invitation. Unsolicited complete drafts will not be reviewed.

Your Pitch Should Include:

  • Proposed article title or working topic
  • A short summary of the angle and argument (2–3 sentences)
  • Why this contributor is the right person to write it
  • A link to previous published work or a writing sample (optional but helpful)
  • A declaration if the piece has any promotional intent

📋 What to Send With the Full Draft

  • Complete article as Google Doc or .docx file
  • Author bio — 2 to 3 sentences, written in third person
  • One URL for the bio link (website, LinkedIn, or social profile)
  • No headshot or photo required
Transparency

The Editorial Process — What Happens to Submitted Work

01

Plagiarism & Originality Check

Every submitted article is checked for plagiarism before editorial review begins. AI detection tools may also be used at editorial discretion.

02

Editorial Assessment

The piece is assessed for clarity, structure, factual accuracy, depth, and fit with BookMandee's editorial standards and content strategy.

03

Edits & Communication

Minor edits (grammar, style, formatting) are made without consultation. Significant structural changes are communicated to the contributor before publication.

04

Publication & Notification

Contributors are notified when the piece goes live. The article is then promoted via BookMandee's social media channels as part of the standard publication process.

Important: Submission of an article does not guarantee publication. Only pitches that pass editorial review at Stage 1 proceed to a full submission invitation. Of those invited and submitted articles, only those that meet editorial standards are published. The BookMandee team reserves the right to decline publication at any stage, and is not obligated to provide a detailed explanation for every rejection decision.
Contributor Benefits

What Every Published Contributor Receives

🖊️

Published Byline

The contributor's name appears as the author of the piece on the published page — a genuine, attributable byline on a live, indexed web page.

📝

Author Bio

A two-to-three sentence author bio is published at the end of every piece, in the contributor's own words and written in third person, as submitted.

🔗

One Do-Follow Backlink

One do-follow link of the contributor's choosing is included within the author bio — to a website, portfolio, LinkedIn profile, or social handle.

📌

Permanent Indexing

Published articles remain live on BookMandee indefinitely. The intent is for articles to rank in search results and accumulate traffic over time — benefiting both the platform and the contributor.

🏅

A Credible Publishing Credit

A byline on BookMandee — a focused, niche literary platform — is a genuine publishing credit. It can be cited in a professional portfolio and referenced in future pitches to other publications in the books and reading space.

What is not included:

BookMandee does not offer payment for guest contributions at this stage of the platform's development. If a contributor's primary motivation is financial compensation, this is not the right programme. The value offered is editorial — a byline, a backlink, promotion, and long-term search visibility on a growing platform focused on a subject readers care about.

Post-Publication

What Happens After the Article Goes Live

Publication is not the end of the process. Contributors often have questions about what happens after their piece is live — particularly around republication, corrections, and follow-up contributions. The following covers all standard post-publication scenarios clearly.

  • The contributor will be notified by email when the article is published, with a link to the live page
  • The article remains live on BookMandee indefinitely — it is not archived, rotated off, or taken down unless there is a specific editorial or legal reason to do so
  • Contributors may reference and link to the published piece from their own websites, portfolios, and social profiles
  • Contributors may not republish the article in full on any other platform after publication on BookMandee — this is a condition of original publication
  • Minor factual corrections can be requested via email. The editorial team will assess and, where appropriate, make corrections with a note on the article
  • Significant changes to a published article — including rewriting of sections — cannot be accommodated post-publication
  • Contributors who have published one piece in good standing are welcome to pitch again. There is no formal limit on the number of pieces a contributor can have published

Intellectual Property — Who Owns What

The contributor retains authorship and moral rights over the piece. By submitting for publication, the contributor grants BookMandee a non-exclusive, perpetual licence to publish, distribute, promote, and index the article on its platform and associated channels.

BookMandee does not claim exclusive ownership of the underlying ideas, research, or argument. However, the specific article as published on BookMandee cannot be republished elsewhere in identical or substantially similar form.

Contributors may reuse the research, ideas, and argument of their piece in new, substantially rewritten articles for other platforms — they may not reuse the same text.

Returning contributors: Repeat pitches are welcome. If a previous article has performed well and a contributor has a new topic in mind, mention the previous piece in the pitch email — it provides useful context.
About BookMandee

The Platform Contributors Are Writing For

BookMandee is an Indian book discovery platform/marketplace. It is being built around a simple belief: that the best way to help readers find their next book is to give them genuine context — about authors, publishers, genres, reading habits, and the culture of reading itself. That is why the platform invests in editorial content across 180+ categories, creates dedicated author pages, publisher profiles, and book overviews, and is actively building a content ecosystem that treats every book as part of a larger story.

The platform is focused exclusively on India's reading audience — a market of hundreds of millions of people, many of whom are early in building their reading lives and actively looking for trustworthy guidance on what to read. Contributors writing here are not publishing into a void — they are writing for an audience that is genuinely searching for what they know.

BookMandee is actively investing in its content footprint and SEO depth. Articles published on the platform are intended to rank, accumulate traffic, and remain valuable assets over time — which means contributor bylines and backlinks grow in value as the platform grows.

180+ Book Categories
India Focused Market
Used Book Marketplace
Growing Content Platform

What makes BookMandee different as a guest post destination:

  • Exclusively focused on books and reading — not a general blog accepting any topic
  • Audience already cares about books — they are buyers, sellers, and active readers
  • Content is actively indexed and SEO-optimised — not published and forgotten
  • Editorial standards mean published pieces are genuinely read, not just listed
  • A growing platform — bylines and backlinks gain value as the audience grows
Frequently Asked Questions

Guest Post Questions, Answered

Yes — BookMandee accepts pitches from anyone who has genuine knowledge of the proposed topic. There are no requirements around professional credentials, prior publishing history, or follower counts. The editorial standard is the quality and relevance of the piece, not the title of the person writing it. That said, contributors who can demonstrate relevant background or expertise — even as an avid reader of a particular genre — will strengthen their pitch.
No. BookMandee does not require contributors to be professional writers. Many of the most valuable pieces on book platforms come from people who are practitioners rather than journalists — a librarian, an academic, a lifelong reader of a particular genre, or someone with deep knowledge of a regional literary tradition. The ability to write clearly and substantively about a topic matters more than professional writing credentials.
Generally yes — as long as the topic falls substantively within books, reading, literature, learning, or publishing. BookMandee covers over 180 categories, which gives contributors considerable latitude. Topics that are only loosely connected to books — for example, using a book recommendation as a pretext for an article about productivity software — are out of scope. The test is whether the piece would genuinely be useful to a reader who loves books.
Between 1,500 and 3,000 words. Submissions shorter than 1,500 words will not have the depth required for meaningful editorial treatment of a topic. Submissions over 3,000 words may be returned to the contributor for editing before review. These limits are not arbitrary — they reflect the kind of substantive, well-developed article that ranks well in search, serves readers well, and justifies a published byline.
One do-follow link is included in the author bio at the end of every published piece. This link can point to a website, blog, LinkedIn profile, or social media handle of the contributor's choosing. Commercial or affiliate links within the body of the article are not permitted. If the article naturally references a source that the contributor is affiliated with, this must be disclosed in the pitch email.
The BookMandee editorial team aims to respond to all pitch emails within 7–10 working days. During peak periods, this may extend slightly. If a contributor has not received a response within 14 days, a single follow-up email to the same address is appropriate. Please do not send multiple follow-up emails before this window has passed.
Yes. All accepted articles go through editorial review and may be edited for clarity, grammar, formatting, length, and style. Minor edits are made without consulting the contributor — this is standard editorial practice and a condition of submission. If significant structural changes are needed, the team will communicate with the contributor before the piece is published. Contributors do not receive direct editing access to the published article.
No. Once published on BookMandee, the article should not be republished in identical or substantially similar form on another platform, including the contributor's own blog or Medium. Doing so creates duplicate content that harms search rankings for both the contributor and BookMandee. Contributors may, however, reference the piece, link to it from their own sites, and reuse the underlying research and ideas in entirely new, substantially rewritten articles for other publications.
Yes — but sponsored posts must be declared as such in the pitch email. BookMandee does not accept promotional content disguised as editorial. Declared sponsored posts are assessed for fit, and if accepted, are subject to a fee communicated after pitch review. All sponsored content is clearly labelled on the published page. Undisclosed promotional content discovered at any stage will result in rejection and permanent ineligibility.
Yes. Contributors who have had a piece published in good standing are welcome to pitch again. There is no formal limit. Repeat contributors with a track record of editorial quality tend to have higher pitch acceptance rates — the team has a baseline for quality and fit. When pitching a follow-up, mention the previous published piece and provide the link.
Fully AI-generated content is not accepted. If AI tools were used in any part of the writing process — for research, structure, drafting, or editing — this must be declared in the pitch email. Pieces that are substantially human-written, fact-checked, and edited may be considered at editorial discretion even if AI tools played a supporting role. BookMandee uses detection tools as part of its originality checks, and undisclosed AI use is treated the same as plagiarism.
Not at present. BookMandee does not pay for guest contributions at this stage of the platform's growth. The value offered is editorial: a published byline, a do-follow backlink, promotion on social channels, and long-term search visibility on a niche, growing platform dedicated to books and reading. Contributors whose primary motivation is financial compensation are encouraged to consider whether this programme is the right fit for their current goals.
